Dr.nk Raven Bruce

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. NK raven Bruce was born in Queens,nyc and raised in the tenements on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

She attended Yeshiva in the city where a vibrant spiritual life was the cornerstone of an immigrant Jewish/ Italian community.

nk Raven completed her Doctoral work in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco, CA (1996) with an emphasis on coping styles and resilience studies. She began to look deeply at the ways in which people rose above their suffering to create meaningful, passion-filled lives.

Her clinical work focused presence on the razor’s edge of suffering: people with Cancer and AIDS, at risk teens and early stage trauma recovery.

Nk Raven’s dissertation examined the efficacy of creative therapeutic interventions with people in acute crisis.

As part of her dissertation, nk Raven authored an interactive coping skills workbook for newly diagnosed women with HIV and end stage Cancer.

In 1996, nk Raven moved to Vermont with her dog and started a part- time psychotherapy practice while working as a Psychologist and Case Manager at a residential psychiatric facility in Plainfield, VT.

After her son was born in 2000, she began a full-time private psychotherapy practice.

Nk raven’s therapeutic passion is to incorporate Zen study into psychotherapy. Her straight forward, earthy approach emphasizes inherent human resilience and the acquisition of coping tools to skillfully maneuver through life difficulties. Her specialties include work with:

  • trauma

  • depression /emptiness

  • anxiety

  • grief and loss

  • relationship suffering

  • identity issues

  • the search for meaning and passion

Nk Raven’s work includes both men and women, individuals, couples, families and young adults. diversity = positive and welcomed.

Nk Raven is licensed in the State of Vermont as a Doctorate Level Clinical Psychologist, License #694.

She currently offers Zoom/ Facetime, telephone and limited in person psychotherapy sessions.

Her fee for service is:

  • $175 for a 50 minute individual session

  • $25o for a 90 minute couples session

Nk Raven’s personal interests include: Zen Buddhism, poetry, Jewish mysticism, the origins of consciousness, adventure travel, the intersection of science and spirit, lessons of history and artificial intelligence. She lives on 17 wooded acres in Middlesex, Vermont with a shaman chihuahua, Mr.Big Stuff and her beloved boas.
